EM Final Assen Holland Race 1. John Railey (ruling Europe champ) and Stefan Malm shifted the lead two times per lap and the spectators got the chance to enjoy racing at its best. Stefan Malm won the race with John Railey close behind. But Damien got a bit unlucky, after two leading laps he had to cancel due to the engine cut. Micke Wärn fought well behind the leading duo and got the third place which was really good concerning both the fact that it was his first time in Assen and the opponents. Race 2. Graham Barker took the start, Stefan Malm 2nd, John Railey 3rd and both Graham and Stefan passed John who got 3-4 seconds after. After four laps Peter Kruse got in to an accident, somehow he had got out of the track and made an overturn about 295 feet in to a rail. Peter lay lifeless by his kart, it looked really scary. The paramedics got his breathing started and raced off to the hospital. And as this drama took place the safety car drove five laps, and when we could drive again we had two laps left. Stefan Malm got into a bit of a jam during the restart, John Railey went for the lead, and cold tyres and leftover rubber on the tyres is not a very good combination driving at 124 miles per hour. This all ended with Stefan loosing his 2nd place and only got a 7th place. Even this race ended in a bit of a disaster for Damien after one lap and another engine cut, and he only needed a 6th place to take the championship. Micke Wärn got once again a 3rd place after a really nice driving from his side. Later this evening we got some news about Peter Kruse, he was a bit sore but still well. The final score this EM was: 1st Graham Barker, 2nd John Riley, 3rd Damien Payart, 4th Gavin Bennett, 5th Stefan Malm, 6th Micke Wärn, 12th Thomas Johansson, 14th Per-Olov Ogeborn, 15th Bengt Albertsson, 21st Monica Stråth, 26th Tomas Roosemark. And to sum up this EM we got Damien at 3rd place and Stefan at 5th place and we are all very happy about this especially when we reflect on all incidents this season, we’ve done good. A great thank you, to all of you who have been following and supporting us during this season. Greetings from Team Malm FPE Racing
